We are pleased to announce that we now offer the Mango Languages online language-learning system to our patrons.
Learning a new language with Mango Languages is free for all library patrons, and offers a fast and convenient solution for language-learning needs. Each lesson combines real life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions. The courses are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application that integrates components of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture. Users learn actual conversation, breaking down complex linguistic elements within an audio-visual framework that draws important connections and builds on information they have already learned.
Mango is available in two versions. One is Mango Complete, a 100-lesson course that is designed to provide a deep understanding of a language and its culture. The second is Mango Basic, which teaches everyday greetings, goodbyes and helpful phrases in a short period of time and is designed to appeal to a beginner in a new language. There are more than 40 foreign language courses available and 16 English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.
To access from home, be sure to use your POWER Code in front of your library barcode number (plxxxxxxxxxxxx) to log in. Call the library for any questions.

Join us for some free Halloween events for children and families. Here’s what we have planned for the last week in October:
Special Halloween Toddler Time
Children and caregivers can come in costume for some spooky (but not too spooky) fun! Listen to stories, sing songs, and watch a special Halloween puppet show.
Children ages 6 and up can come to the library to make Halloween crafts. A certified art teacher will also lead children in a fun, short lesson.
Trick-or-Treat at the Library
Stop by the library for a treat! If you have the time, stay for games, face painting, a craft, and more. We’ll be here an hour before Titusville trick-or-treat begins, so feel free to join us before you head off on your regular Halloween route.
Ebooks are now available to CCFLS library patrons via Overdrive! As long as you have a valid CCFLS library card you’ll be able to check out ebooks to read on a variety of ebook readers, mobile devices, or your home computer.

Please ask at the counter if you need help!
Fall dates have been set for Paws 4 Reading!
Starting Tuesday, October 1st through November 12th, children may come into the library and read to one of our trained therapy dogs. It will be every Tuesday except Tuesday, October 29th. Readers can come anytime between 3:30-4:30. For more questions, please call the library at 827-2913.
Toddler Time is back at the library! The first session of our new year will be on Tuesday, August 27th at 11:15 a.m. Toddler Time will continue at 11:15 every Tuesday morning after that. This is a free library program designed for children ages 18 months to 4 years. At Toddler Time, your child will listen to stories and rhymes, sing songs, participate in movement and dance activities, watch puppet shows, and more! Toddler Time is meant to be fun for your family, but it will also help your child build crucial early literacy skills that will help him or her get a head start on learning to read. We hope to see you there!

Benson Memorial Library will be temporarily closed to the public from August 17 through August 24 for lighting replacement. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Due to the U.S. Department of Energy mandating that T12 fluorescent lamps be phased out of production after July 14, 2012 the library is replacing thirty-seven 8-foot light fixtures and replacing 134 ballasts and 364 light bulbs. The replacement of these inefficient bulbs will give the library an energy-efficient facelift, and give our patron’s a more welcoming experience at the library.
Through a generous donation from the John Nesbit Rees and Sarah Henne Rees Charitable Foundation we are able to move forward with this project. The continued support from the Titusville Lions and Lioness Club, the Titusville Moose Lodge, the Polish National Alliance and community members have aided in our efforts to provide quality service to our community. We are extremely grateful for the community support and are excited to see the final outcome. We encourage everyone to stop by after August 24 to see the new brightly lit building.
The library will reopen on Monday, August 25 with new hours in place. Starting August 25 we will be open to the public from 9:00 to 8:00. With the additional hour in the morning, patrons will have more opportunities to use all services of the library.
